Key features of movie poster

The key features of a movie poster are the title, which is central and is colourful and bright to make it one of the first thing the reader reads. There is a key image which is iconic and gives the reader a glimpse of the plot. There is also a tag-line, usually below the title which also shows which genre the movie is. Actor's names are usually at the top of the poster, the more famous they are, the more prominent on the poster, the more important the actor must be. They also have quotes from magazines or newspapers, depending on what the target audience are likely to read. The poster also has the release date on, either the actual date, or the year or the month, depending on how far the movie is through the advertising campaign.

Movie Title

The Strangers
I find this poster effective because at first the reader won't notice the silhouette in the back of the poster. And when they do, they feel scared because the person has a mask on which hides there face which keeps the person mysterious and frightening. The reader can also tell that they should be scared because of the women's expression, she is shocked and scared because she can't see where the person is.

Target Audience

My target audience is 15, this is because I believe that 15 years old to 40 years old would enjoy the movie. I don't think that people older or younger than that would like the content of the film such as it's goriness or the plot.

Movie Pitch

This is my Movie Pitch:

Imagine how frightening it would have been to fight for your country in World War 2. Now think how much more frightening it would have been to be a lab rat in a secret Soviet military experiment, where a creature has been developed to fight and kill all known enemies. The genre war is very popular since Saving Private Ryan to new movies like Valkyrie. And now think about Saving Private Ryan meeting Predator. The movie is about six people forced into the US army fighting against the Japanese in 1944. As they are flying to Japan, there is a problem and the plane crashes in Siberia. Near the crash site is an abandoned fort strangely with all the supplies they need, but after the first night, they meet the habitant a mutant creature that has a large thirst for blood. I believe that the movie would be successful amongst teenagers and adults and would be an instant success.
